    Climate 2020: Warm as never before

    According to the measurements of the German Weather Service, the year 2020 on the Zugspitze was together with 2011 the warmest year since 1900.

    In 2020 the German Weather Service measured + 2.1 K on the Zugspitze compared to the long-year average. Not only at Zugspitze, but all over Germany higher temperatures than usually were observed.

    The precipitation was 96 % less than during the reference time.

    Worldwide the highest deviation were measured in the Arctic, where a plus of 5 K was averaged for the year 2020.
